D.L.E.

Terry told me to blog this, so since he doesn't suggest things for me to do unless they really are valuable, I'm blogging this.

My brother and I went to visiting our folks to celebrate our dad's birthday, which is tomorrow. (Happy Brithday, Dad.)

During our visit, the family talked about my birthday party last Tuesday. I had mentioned to Terry that our parents did not win the game of Casey Quizzo. My mom said that they did really good with the younger years questions. (What's Casey favorite color? Blue. Is Casey a dog or cat person? Dog. How many siblings does Casey have? One.) However my folks had trouble with the latter year question. One of the questions that stumped them was "What does the anacronym D.L.E. in Casey speak mean?" My parents who did not know the answer asked my brother if he knew what it meant, and he didn't. (I don't think that any of the attendees of Casey Quizzo knew.)

He didn't know either, so I told him. D.L.E. stands for date like event; it is my non-committal way of discussing a date. He loved it and thought that it was a great way to talk about a date. Then he told me to blog it, so I can state that I coined the phrase when the shit hits the fan!

Thanks, Terry.

I love the idea of a DLE. Frankly I get really confused with all the gradations of going on dates. You can be boyfriends, dating, seeing each other, hanging out, talking, blah blah blah. I think I'll just use DLE from now on. Thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary.
